           SWIM LESSON LEVELS

At First Class Swim School we break our levels down by age then ability. We have 7 levels in each age group with proven lesson plans. Our unique curriculum and low ratios allow students to progress at the fastest possible rate.

Does your child have Special Needs? Our Teachers are trained and experienced in all types of needs! We may start your child in Special Needs Private classes but our goal would be to transition to group classes based on your goals for your swimmer. 

 

Level 1 - Introduction 

Ducky Dive - Student is relaxed with face in the water, teacher glides student through the water 8 seconds

Ducky Fly - Student is relaxed on back, teacher glides student through the water

Ducky Wall Walk - Student moves self 10 feet on wall with two hands

Level 2 - Comfort

Ducky Flipper Kicks - Student extends arms over head in streamline position while kicking

Ducky Float - Student is relaxed floating on back

Ducky Pond Exit - Student pulls self out of the pool using Wing, Wing, Belly, Flipper progression

Level 3 - Propulsion 

Ducky Wing Pulls - Student swims with extended arm reaches and flutter kicks 

Ducky Wing Flap - Student propels self through the water on back with arms in flapping motion

Ducky Dive Arms - Student propels self through the water with Breaststroke pull and flutter kick on flotation

Ducky Double Flipper Kick - Student propels self through the water with dolphin kicks on flotation

Ducky Dumpty - Student falls into pool turns and climbs out

Level 4 - Confidence

Ducky Swim - Student swims with high elbow arm extensions and flutter kicks

Ducky Wing Flap Flip - Student propels self through the water on back with arms in flapping motion, then flips on front and continues swimming

Streamline Ducky Flipper Whip - Student propels self through the water with a whip kick on flotation

Streamline Ducky Double Flipper Kick - Student propels self through the water with dolphin kicks

Ducky Dumpty Jump - Student jumps into pool swims to the wall and climbs out

Level 5 - Survival

Ducky Swim Flap Swim - Student swims on front then flips for a recovery breath then continues swimming on front

Streamline Flipper Kicks Back - Student propels self through the water on back with kicks

Ducky Bobbing - Student propels self through water with exaggerated Breaststroke arms and a whip kick, with pop breath

Single Wing Ducky Fly - Student swims with 1 arm, dolphin kick and pop breath

Ducky Jump Swim - Students jumps in water, flips on back, then swims back to the wall and climb out

Level 6 - Pre-Competitive

Ducky Wing Extensions - Student swims with straight arm Freestyle then flips for lead arm recovery breath

Ducky Wing Backstroke - Student swims with alternating 1 arm sailboat stalls and flutter kicks on back

Ducky Breaststroke - Student holds streamline for 3 whip kicks then pops up to breathe

Ducky Dive And Fly - Student holds streamline underwater with dolphin kicks, then student will pull self out of the water to breathe while performing two arm Butterfly

Ducky Pond Dive - Swim the length of the pool dive to bottom and pick up object, swim back

Level 7 - Competitive

Freestyle - Student swims with alternating overhead strokes and side breath

Backstroke - Student swims on back with alternating arms and flutter kicks

Breaststroke - Student propels self forward with whip kicks and uses arms to pop up and breathe

Butterfly - Student swims with arms moving simultaneously and dolphin kicks alternating breath

Sculling Positions - 1. Students does sculling motion with arms extended above head on front 2. Student does sculling motion with arms at 90 degree angle by their side on front 3. Student does sculling motion with arms extended above head on back 4. Student does sculling motion with arm extended along their sides on back

At First Class Swim School your first class will be FREE! During your first swim class your teacher will:

 

  • Review your goals and previous swimming experiences

  • Analyze swimming ability and provide feedback

  • Have fun, smile and teach through play

  • Build a relationship with the student and parent

  • Recommend the best plan moving forward to meet and exceed your goals, including swim frequency and swim lesson duration
